Our day began at Crazy Horse Memorial, a truly impressive historical site, monument, and work-in-progress.
Since 1948, work has been ongoing at the site. The end result will be the transfer of the carving above into the moutain behind it. It is a portrayal of the Lakota warrior and hero Crazy Horse. The progress thus far is absolutely beautiful, but as you can see, there is much work to be done.
We were lucky enough to be present today for the removal of a giant chunk of granite... by dynamite. The stone removed was not really impressive in size but it was pretty cool to see.
Once completed, Crazy Horse Memorial will be the largest statue in the world. Hopefully I'm still alive so I can come take pictures of it.

... And we all know how you feel about statues... *sigh*
