One of the most exciting things we saw in South Dakota was the collection of "Wall Drug" signs along I-90 west. The first sign we noticed for The World's Largest Drug Store said, "Only 355 miles to Wall Drug!" And, according to the signs, anyway, there is a Wall Drug sign in Kenya. No doubt about it then-- we had to go.
To get us pumped up for the fabulousness that is Wall Drug, in Wall, SD, I read aloud to Rich every Wall Drug sign that we passed. By the four- or five- hundredth one, he was so excited he couldn't even stand to hear me read the signs anymore. So, after leaving Rapid City, as we started our trek back east, we took Exit 109 off I-90 in South Dakota and went to Wall Drug.
It was as splendid as we had hoped.
It even required a map!
And they had a jackalope! And you could sit on it!
And there was a T-Rex! (But you couldn't sit on it. It would eat you, despite its weeny little arms.)
And there were departments/ rooms selling every kind of crummy stuff imaginable! And they had fringed shirts! And... we left after about 15 minutes. But now we can say we've been to the internationally advertised Wall Drug!
