Here's the complete pre-trip itinerary for our 2011 adventure. Click the links to see the blog entries for that day/event.
Wednesday 6/29
- Drive more than half way to Minneapolis. We're hoping to get in at least 14 driving hours in before we crash for the night.
Thursday 6/30 - Our Fourth Anniversary
- Drive the rest of the way to Minny and have a nice anniversary dinner in the city.
Friday 7/1
- Ball park tour of Target Field and a little sight-seeing during the day.
- Twins-Brewers game at 7pm (Central)
Saturday 7/2
- Sight-seeing during the day.
- Twins-Brewers game at 6pm (Central)
Sunday 7/3
- Drive to Keystone, SD.
- On the way, we plan to stop at the World's Biggest Ball of Twine (wound by a single person) in Darwin, Minnesota . Heck yeah!!!
Monday 7/4 - Independence Day
- Spend the day exploring and sight-seeing at Crazy Horse, Rushmore Caves, the Presidential Wax Museum, and of course, Mount Rushmore.
Tuesday 7/5
- Drive more than half the way to Sandusky, Ohio (home of Cedar Point Amusement Park). We once again hope to get in at least 14 driving hours in before we stop for the night.
Wednesday 7/6
- Drive the rest of the way into Sandusky.
- Spend the evening at Cedar Point (this means we get to ride Millenium Force two times).
Thursday 7/7
Friday 7/8
- Drive to Pittsburgh, PA.
- Pirates-Cubs game at PNC Park at 7pm
Saturday 7/9
- Drive to Elysburg, PA.
- Spend the afternoon and evening at Knoebels Amusement Park, the largest free admission amusement park in America (since 1926).
Sunday 7/10
- To quote my lovely wife: "Home again, home again, jiggety-jig!"
