Today, I realized a life-long dream.
I found myself standing there, separated by only a thin pane of highly-reflective glass from the BIGGEST BALL OF TWINE IN MINNESOTA!
As you may or may not know, I love kitsch. I think corny attractions can be a lot of fun; that's why I go through the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum every time I find one. Thanks to Weird Al, I've had this 'attraction' on my to-do list for years.
We got the info on the Ball O'Twine from Roadside America's web site (a great place for finding national treasures such as this) and were luckily able to work it into the schedule for this year's road trip. Unfortunately, the museum and gift shop was closed when we arrived (Sunday morning at 11am). I was therefore unable to spend $29 on a Twine Ball Starter Kit.
Luckily, they sell all their souvenirs on their web site.

Is there a Biggest Ball of Twine made by more than one person?
ReplyDeleteThere is another twine ball in Kansas that was started by 1 person, but has since been (and continues to be) added to by other people. So much silly facts about America, so little time.
